November 2014 will be exciting for us here at Metzke on a number of fronts. Moving up in the world, Metzke has recently completed the expansion of its office adding a second floor providing a great workspace for all departments.
In mid-November you will receive an invitation to visit our new website. With our ever-growing product portfolio it’s time to broadcast all of the great innovations developed by our group of leading engineers.
The most exciting news to follow in November will be the product release of the Metzke Splitter. Following 4 years of development and a comprehensive testing regime the Metzke Splitter is in its final stages of field durability testing.
Hands Free Breakout Tools
Safety First, and what better way to eliminate risks associated with breaking out joints and hammer components than integrating a completely hands-free dual breakout system. Metzke manufactures both the MB550 and MB850 which can be mounted in various configurations to suit your application.
Most notably for RC drill rigs, the MB550 has a gripping range suited to the RC drill strings and hammer components. This tool has been widely adopted by major RC contractors and solutions have been developed for rigs including Schramm685, DRA600, KWL700 and UDR1200 / DE880.
The MB850 has taken various forms with the most recent development being the Dual Rotary MB850. This tool includes a swing in spanner and rod centraliser that supports the drill string on the casing rotator when breaking joints. We have supplied a number of these units to the leading Waterwell drilling contractors here in Australia and performance has been excellent.
MB850 solutions have been developed for rigs including; Foremost DR24 and DR24HD, Schramm685 and T130XD, Atlas Copco T3W and TH60, KWL700.
The MB550 and MB850 are arguably the most robust, compact and driller friendly dual break out system available on the market. Please feel free to contact us for a solution for your drilling operation.
MakorBreak™
The Metzke MakorBreak™ could be considered the safest and most retro-fittable breakout tool for a drill rig. The MakorBreak has evolved in the last 6 months with the larger of the 2 tools being adapted to grip up to 10 – 12”
The Metzke MakorBreak™ key features include the following

- Self Adjusting

- Virtually a hands free operation
- Can be mounted on either side of the mast
- MakorBreak Diamond Rated @ 10000Nm
- Gripping Range from 50mm to 200mm with various sized hooks
